BEHIND THE LENS
My name is Robert Paul but everyone calls me Gonzo. I grew up in Houston, Texas where as a kid I was into sports, video and photography; I just called it taking pictures at the time. I bought my first video camera for $50 from my aunt in which I carried everywhere with me. I wanted it because along with videos I was able to take pictures which for me was hitting the jackpot. I often did snapchat type of videos, this was in the 90's, except no one ever saw them.
Fast forward 10 years, 2 kids later, & working many jobs I hated; I found my calling working in tv/film as an editor, telling stories with pictures. Its what I did all my life just didn't realize it could be a profession. Now, I love my day job but I still have that passion for holding a camera and freezing that moment forever. During that 10 years of soul searching I never put the camera down I just use what I could get my hands on. Capturing the candid moment is what I go for. The best photos are the ones you were not expecting. Of course we will have the classic poses for safety but that split second moment you didn't know existed, where your family is at its most natural...that is what you will remember when reminiscing 20 years from now. Thats what i want to capture. Im looking forward to working with you!
